TABASCO® Animated Screen Saver Frequently Asked
Questions
- I'm having trouble getting the animated
screen saver to download and install.
Complete instructions can be found on this page. (Note: the Windows versions of the audio enhanced screensaver are self-extracting archives, so you will not need WinZip.)
- Once it was downloaded, it told me to type the name of the program I wanted to use to open the file. I have no idea. What should I use?
Since the animated screen saver is compressed, you will
need either WinZip (Windows). or Stuffit Expander (Mac)
to open the file
- I installed the animated screen
saver, but it won't launch; or when it does, the screen
is black or the desktop doesn't appear. Or, I get an "out
of memory" error. What's happening here?
In all likelihood you have a large monitor set to maximum (usually "millions", or 24-bit) color depth. Try setting your monitor to display 16-bit (or "thousands") colors. On the Macintosh, do this in your Monitors and Sound control panel. Under Windows, do this in the Display control panel.
Another possibility is that you don't have enough free RAM.
Try quitting a few applications and see if it works then.
If you have less than 6MB free at the time the animated
screen saver launches, there is a good chance you need more
memory.
- I have a Macintosh with another
animated screen saver already installed. Do I need to disable
my old animated screen saver to get this one to work?
In most cases, yes. Some animated screen savers (such as
After Dark) you should be able to disable by opening the
control panel and turning it off. If this does not work,
you may also need to drag out of the Control Panels folder
and restart the machine.
- I love the animated screen saver,
in fact so much so that I don't get any work done. My boss
has demanded that I delete it from my hard drive. How do
I (sob) do that?
On Windows: look inside the C:\WINDOWS\ directory and delete the "Peppers.exe" and "Peppers.scr"
On Macintosh: look inside your Control Panels folder and drag the PepperSaver file to the Trash.
- I've read all these instructions and yet I am still befuddled. Is there an actual human being that can help me?
